Michael Morales admits he respects Islam Makhachev , but that doesn't change his mind about the Russian champion. After knocking out Sean Brady at UFC 322 in November 2025, the Ecuadorian prospect established himself as one of the top contenders to challenge the welterweight leader (up to 77kg). Motivated by the possibility of fighting for the belt, he continues his active campaign for this opportunity.
In an interview with the 'KOlmeneroMMA' channel, Morales made it clear that his team is persistently seeking a fight against Makhachev and indicated that there has already been resistance from the other side. Even so, the Ecuadorian reinforced that he is ready for the challenge, despite acknowledging the legacy of the Russian, whom he considers a legendary fighter.

He has already done his part and already has two titles, but I also come with that hunger to conquer the title,” said Michael Morales.
