Ngannou reveals shock at his friend Adesanya's latest defeat and admits concern: 'It's difficult to recover'

It wasn't just Israel Adesanya and his team who suffered from the outcome of the main fight at UFC Seattle . At the event held last Saturday (28), the former king of the middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg) was knocked out in the second round by Joe Pyfer and, thus, plummeted in the rankings. Despite leaving the organization through the back door, Francis Ngannou continues to watch his fights and, when commenting on his friend's situation, showed himself to be pessimistic.

On his official Instagram account, the former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg) revealed that he was surprised by Adesanya's latest setback and admitted to being worried about his MMA future. Ngannou's lament is understandable, given that the Nigerian was ahead in the fight.

The veteran even managed to shake the American, but couldn't knock him out and suffered his fourth consecutive defeat. It's true that the Nigerian, even experiencing the worst phase of his career, has guaranteed he won't retire. However, the Cameroonian, visibly upset, seems skeptical that his friend will bounce back, despite always being by his side.

“Watching Izzy’s fight broke my heart. It reminds us how ungrateful this sport is. Sometimes it’s good to you and rewards you. Sometimes, no matter what you do, it lets you down. Izzy looked very sharp,” said the fighter.

“After the first round, I thought, ‘Wow, we did it. This is good. He’s back.’ But sometimes we make plans, but God has other plans. I can only imagine how difficult it is to recover from this situation and come back,” he concluded.

Ngannou's Fighters

Francis Ngannou , 39, is a combat sports star. The Cameroonian began his MMA career in 2013 and built a record of 18 wins, 17 by stoppage (13 by knockout and four by submission), and three losses. In the sport, he was the UFC heavyweight champion and won the PFL heavyweight superfight title.

His main victories were over Alistair Overeem , Cain Velasquez , Ciryl Gane , Curtis Blaydes (twice), Junior Cigano , and Stipe Miocic . On the other hand, in boxing, Ngannou fought twice and lost both to Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury via knockout and split decision, respectively.
