Apparently, the world's largest MMA organization had a very different plan for Renato Moicano . Originally, the Brazilian was supposed to face Brian Ortega in March, but, as he was injured, the rematch was cancelled. Therefore, the veteran only returned to action last Saturday (4) and shone in the main event of UFC Vegas 115 by easily finishing Chris Duncan in the second round. In any case, the professional pointed out that he should have been kept in the company's 326th edition.

After returning to winning ways, Moicano revealed an unpleasant situation, stating that his fight against the Scotsman only happened because a top lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) fighter refused to replace Ortega. It's true that the Brazilian kept the fighter's name a secret.

At the time, the veteran was going through a delicate moment in his career due to two consecutive defeats. Even so, the athlete in question, without the possibility of having completed a full training camp, preferred to hold back and let the opportunity to face the tenth-ranked player, who was under pressure, pass by.

“I was supposed to fight Ortega in the UFC that Charles fought Holloway. Ortega pulled out and they offered me a guy named, I don't know the guy's name. I accepted, but he didn't accept. Then they offered another one, but I thought, 'No, nobody knows who that guy is',” the fighter said in an interview with UFC Brazil.

Renato Moicano , 36, is a veteran of MMA and a long-time member of the UFC's top 15 lightweight division. The Brazilian began his career in the sport in 2010 and debuted in its biggest organization in 2014. Currently, he is ranked tenth in the highly competitive division.

In this discipline, the professional built a record of 21 wins, seven losses, and one draw. His main victories were over Benoit Saint Denis , Calvin Kattar , Chris Duncan , Cub Swanson , Drew Dober , Jalin Turner , and Jeremy Stephens.
