In an interview with the Spanish TV program 'El Hormiguero' last Thursday (9), the current lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg) spoke publicly about the divorce process he went through with Giorgina Uzcategui, the mother of his children.

With an emotional expression, Topuria revealed that his mother had given him advice about his relationship, and that he hadn't taken her warnings seriously. Although he didn't go into details, he said he had learned from his mistake and declared his love for his mother.

“It might make you laugh, but the biggest thing I’ve learned… is to listen to my mother. Because mothers have an intuition, and they see things that we don’t see. When your mother tells you that something isn’t right, no matter how clear it seems to you, it isn’t. I learned to listen to my mother. I love you, Mom,” the fighter stated.
