Carlos Ulberg won the vacant light heavyweight belt (up to 93 kg) in the most surprising and difficult way possible. In the main fight of UFC 327, an event held this Saturday (11), in Miami (USA), the New Zealander suffered a knee injury in the first round, but he did not give up and ended up being rewarded. With a unique power of overcoming adversity, the athlete turned things around and, in the same round, brutally knocked out Jiri Prochazka .
Ulberg, 35, is experiencing a magical phase in his career, with ten consecutive victories. The New Zealander began his MMA career in 2011 and debuted in the UFC in 2021. In the sport, the athlete has built a record of 14 wins, ten by stoppage (nine by knockout and one by submission), and one loss. His main results were against Dominick Reyes , Jan Błachowicz, Jiri Prochazka , and Volkan Oezdemir.

The first round of the fight had everything and was unforgettable. Ulberg started better, but after suffering an injury during the fight, he began to suffer from Prochazka's attacks. The Czech fighter landed several low kicks on his opponent who, lacking a base, resisted as best he could, but everything indicated that a knockout was only a matter of time. In fact, it came, but surprisingly, in favor of the New Zealander.
Even with his back against the wall, Ulberg proved to be a sharpshooter and, with extreme composure, landed a cross on Prochazka, sending him to the ground. From there, the New Zealander didn't waste the chance and delivered a series of heavy punches to the defenseless former champion, forcing the referee to stop the fight. As could be expected, the athlete celebrated the feat, even more so because of all the drama seen in the octagon.
