Gilbert Durinho tried to resist, but was no match for Mike Malott 's power in the main event of UFC Winnipeg, held last Saturday (18). The Brazilian showed good movement and sought takedowns throughout the fight, but could not cope with the strong pressure from the home fighter and ended up being knocked out in the third round.

After two difficult rounds, Durinho started the third round insisting on takedowns, which continued to be neutralized by his opponent. Malott maintained control, cornered the Brazilian and, with an uppercut, managed to take him down. Even getting up quickly, the former challenger couldn't withstand the pressure: he went to the ground again after an overwhelming sequence of blows, forcing the referee to stop the fight.

With the defeat, Durinho suffered his fifth consecutive loss in the UFC. Visibly emotional, the veteran left his gloves in the center of the octagon, a traditional gesture symbolizing his retirement from MMA.
