Last Saturday (18), MMA said goodbye to another great fighter. Veteran Gilbert Durinho decided to retire from the sport after being knocked out by Mike Malott in the third round of the main fight at UFC Winnipeg, in Canada. As could not be otherwise, fans and professionals of the sport paid their respects to the Brazilian, with special mention to three athletes who were on the opposite side of the octagon from him.

On their social media, Belal Muhammad , Kamaru Usman , and Khamzat Chimaev , who defeated Burns in the UFC, showed great sportsmanship and praised him. The former welterweight king (up to 77,1 kg), the Nigerian recalled moments from the athlete's career. It's worth noting that despite knocking out the athlete in 2021, the Nigerian is his longtime friend and training partner.

Durinho is knocked out, suffers his fifth consecutive defeat, and announces his retirement from UFC Winnipeg.

The Russian, the middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg), was short and to the point. 'Borz' posted a picture of himself greeting Durinho after their fight in 2022 and called him a lion. Last but not least, the American, former welterweight champion, put the rivalry aside and acknowledged the athlete's importance. Earlier, Dana White congratulated the Brazilian on his excellent career.

Gilbert Burns , 39, was successful in Jiu-Jitsu and is a legend in MMA. The Brazilian began his career in the sport in 2012, debuted in the UFC in 2014, and retired in 2026. At his peak, he competed for the welterweight title.

In this sport, Durinho built a record of 22 wins and ten losses. His main victories were over Demian Maia , Jorge Masvidal , Neil Magny , Stephen Thompson , and Tyron Woodley.
