Magomed Ankalaev , it seems, already has a clear target for his return to the octagon. Having not fought since his loss to Alex Poatan at UFC 320, the Dagestani fighter has signaled interest in facing Khalil Rountree Jr. and even indicated how he believes his rival should prepare for the potential duel.

In a social media post, Ankalaev suggested that Rountree wouldn't need to focus so much on wrestling training, even while working with Khamzat Chimaev . The Russian highlighted that his preference would be for a fight based exclusively on striking, projecting a high-level technical stand-up fight over five rounds.

“Khalil, my friend, I see you training a lot of wrestling with Khamzat, but in reality you don’t need that. All I’d like to do with you is 25 minutes of a very high-level striking lesson, if you can last that long,” Ankalaev wrote.
