Francis Ngannou continues to show interest in facing Jon Jones before ending his career. The Cameroonian has a fight scheduled for an MVP event, in partnership with Netflix, on May 16th. Even acknowledging that he is in the final stretch of his career, the former UFC champion still dreams of sharing the octagon with the American before hanging up his gloves.
In an interview with ESPN MMA, Ngannou reiterated that Jones is the opponent he most wants to face before retiring, but assured that he remains open to facing any other opponent, regardless of who it is.

Although he still has a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, unlike Ngannou, there is a possibility that Jon Jones could share the octagon with the Cameroonian outside of the world's largest MMA organization. This comes amid intense backstage conflict between 'Bones' and UFC president Dana White.
According to Dana White, despite Jones expressing interest in competing at the " UFC White House " event, the former champion was never actually in the organization's plans for the card. The executive also stated that the fighter was nearing the end of his career, citing a chronic hip injury as a determining factor.
On the other hand, Jones maintains that he negotiated his participation in the event, but no financial agreement was reached. Regarding the criticism surrounding his physical condition, the former champion responded by requesting a contract release to prove that he can still compete at a high level outside of the UFC. If this scenario materializes, the path could be open for a possible confrontation against Francis Ngannou.
