Charles Jourdain doesn't hide his gratitude towards Jean Silva , even after being knocked out by the Brazilian. The Canadian faced 'Lord' in June 2024 and ended up being knocked out by a precise uppercut. Despite the defeat, the episode marked a turning point in his career: Jourdain dropped down a weight class and entered the best phase of his career, crediting the change to the impact of the fight against the Fighting Nerds representative.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani, the fighter highlighted that the setback served as a reality check, boosting his decision to compete at 61 kg. Since then, he has accumulated three consecutive victories, all accompanied by performance bonuses, and directly attributes this evolution to the duel against Jean Silva.
“I have to thank Jean Silva . Since I was knocked out, he gave me a reality check, going down to 61 kg, three wins in a row, three bonuses in a row. Jean Silva changed my life with that uppercut,” said Charles Jourdain.

Jourdain also revealed that the most decisive moment came outside the octagon. After the fight, upon reuniting with his wife weeks later, he received the news that he was going to be a father. The news made him completely rethink his career path, leading him to abandon doubts and drastically change his approach as an athlete, determined not to give up on his goals.
“I had lost all hope in myself until my wife came to see me after the fight with Jean Silva , two or three weeks later. She said, ‘Hey, I’m pregnant.’ Then I thought, ‘Oh, okay, what kind of father do I want to be?’ The guy who just gives up on his dream? No, I drastically changed everything,” concluded the Canadian.
