Paulo Borrachinha doesn't seem impressed by his own good run in the UFC octagon. After a negative streak in the organization, the Minas Gerais native reinvented himself and racked up two consecutive victories, a result that put him close to a title shot in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg). Despite this positive moment, the fighter denies having undergone any significant changes.
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Borrachinha recalled the criticism he received after his defeats and stated that he remains the same athlete. According to him, the comments about not having beaten relevant names in the UFC and his bad streak have lost their meaning with his recent results, but this does not signify a transformation in his performance or mentality.

“I heard a lot: 'Borrachinha hasn't beaten anyone in the UFC roster, he's coming off two losses.' Countless disparaging phrases, and today none of those phrases make sense. Did I change drastically in two fights? I didn't change, I'm exactly the same,” wrote Borrachinha.

After facing the risk of being fired, Paulo Borrachinha turned things around in the UFC and is experiencing one of his best moments in the organization. In June 2025, the Brazilian ended his bad streak by defeating Roman Kopylov at UFC 316 , getting back on the winning track.
The real turning point, however, came at UFC 327, held in April 2026. In his light heavyweight debut (up to 93 kg), Borrachinha knocked out Azamat Murzakanov and established himself as one of the leading names in the category.
Given this new scenario, the fighter from Minas Gerais is now being seen as a potential contender for the belt, with expectations that his next challenge could be for the division title.
