Rodolfo Vieira came close to having his arm raised at UFC Vegas 116, but ended up suffering another defeat in the organization. The jiu-jitsu star faced Eric McConico on the preliminary card of the event and, despite putting up a scare with a knockdown and good submission attempts, he eventually tired and let the victory slip away in the judges' decision.
With the loss, Rodolfo Vieira suffered his fifth defeat in the UFC, his second consecutive loss. Eric McConico , on the other hand, secured his 10th career victory, his second in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

In the opening seconds of the fight, Rodolfo Vieira capitalized on his opponent's approach and landed a powerful cross that rocked McConico. Following that, the world jiu-jitsu champion took his opponent's back and threatened with a rear-naked choke before attempting an armbar.
Unable to secure a submission, the Brazilian took the fight to the ground again, and when the American tried to stand up, he once again took his back and worked in the clinch. In the final stretch of the round, the fight returned to striking, and this time it was Eric who landed two hard crosses. Even so, after an attempted low kick from his opponent, Rodolfo took him down again.
In the second round, Rodolfo returned using his boxing more and staying close, but began to suffer from the American's better strikes, which connected with clean hands and high kicks. As the round progressed, Eric took control of the center of the octagon and forced the Brazilian to retreat. Midway through the round, the black belt managed to take the fight to the clinch, where he again applied pressure against the cage.
In the final round, Rodolfo was already showing signs of fatigue, while Eric, being faster, used his reach to score points with jabs and straight punches. Midway through the round, the Brazilian managed to clinch, but after failing in a takedown attempt, he ended up pulling guard.
Unable to secure a sweep, the fight returned to the feet, with a fierce exchange of blows in the center of the octagon until the end. After three rounds of action, the judges declared Eric McConico the winner by unanimous decision.

Jackson McVey showed he has the potential to join the UFC roster. The young American entered the card on the preliminary card against Sedriques Dumas and didn't give his opponent time to react, winning by submission in the first round.
With the victory, McVey, 27, reached seven career wins and achieved his first positive result in the organization, after two initial losses.
Moreover, Sedriques Dumas He suffered his fifth loss in the UFC, his third in a row, extending his negative streak in the organization.
