Raoni Barcelos challenges former champion to an all-Brazilian duel after victory at UFC Vegas 116.

Raoni Barcelos has already defined his next target in the Ultimate. The veteran Brazilian was in action on the main card of UFC Vegas 116, held last Saturday (25), where he defeated Montel Jackson and secured a place in the top 15 of the bantamweight division (up to 61,2 kg). Looking to climb the rankings, the Rio native pointed out possible opponents and suggested, respectfully, an all-Brazilian duel against Deiveson Figueiredo.

In an interview with UFC Brazil, Raoni mentioned Marlon 'Chito' Vera as a viable option, although he acknowledged that the Ecuadorian is coming off a loss and might not accept the fight. On the other hand, he reinforced his respect for Deiveson Figueiredo , citing his admiration for his compatriot's career. Even so, he assessed that this is the right time to pursue the fight, projecting a balanced and attractive matchup for the public.

“There’s Chito Vera, right? He’s coming off a loss, but I don’t know if he’d accept a fight with me. But it would be an ideal fight for me to jump up the rankings, and the other one I respect a lot, he’s Brazilian like me, I respect his team. It’s Deivson Figueiredo. We have mutual friends, but I think this is my opportunity now, I’ve followed his entire career. With all humility, he’s a name I could be facing, and the public would be the winner,” said Raoni Barcelos.

With the victory, Raoni Barcelos reached his 22nd career win, his fifth consecutive. Furthermore, the Brazilian is likely to enter the rankings in the next update, as Montel was defending the 14th position in the category.
