Islam Makhachev has already begun preparing for his first title defense in the UFC welterweight division (up to 77kg). After dominating Jack Della Maddalena and winning his second title at UFC 322, anticipation among fans has increased regarding when and against whom the Russian will face his next challenge in the organization. The answers, it seems, are close to being revealed.

In a statement to Red Corner MMA, during a training period in Kislovodsk, Russia, physical trainer Siefulla Magomedov revealed that the champion's camp is already underway, but has recently intensified. According to the coach, despite the initial days of preparation, the official start of the most intense phase has now occurred.
