Islam Makhachev has already begun preparing for his first title defense in the UFC welterweight division (up to 77kg). After dominating Jack Della Maddalena and winning his second title at UFC 322, anticipation among fans has increased regarding when and against whom the Russian will face his next challenge in the organization. The answers, it seems, are close to being revealed.
In a statement to Red Corner MMA, during a training period in Kislovodsk, Russia, physical trainer Siefulla Magomedov revealed that the champion's camp is already underway, but has recently intensified. According to the coach, despite the initial days of preparation, the official start of the most intense phase has now occurred.

“The camp started a few days ago, but for Islam it really began today,” said Siefulla Magomedov.
With his sights set on Islam Makhachev, Ian Garry traveled to improve his grappling skills.
Despite not having his fight with Islam Makahchev announced, Ian Garry has already begun his preparation. The Irishman sought to strengthen his grappling skills to prepare for his match against the Russian and drew attention on social media by sharing a trip to Georgia, a country with strong wrestling traditions.
