Diogo Reis, two-time ADCC champion and one of the new leaders of BJJ College, spoke out after the preventive arrest of Melqui Galvão, investigated for suspected sexual crimes against minors . The athlete came to the public this Tuesday (28), after the repercussion of the case and stated that he repudiates any form of harassment or violence, in addition to defending that the allegations be investigated by the competent authorities.
Upon learning of Melqui's arrest, BJJ College released an official statement on Tuesday (28) informing that Diogo Reis and Mica Galvão have taken over the leadership of the team , while the renowned jiu-jitsu coach has been removed from any activity linked to the organization.

According to the BNC Amazonas website, Melqui, Mica Galvão's father, turned himself in to authorities in Manaus after a São Paulo court ordered his temporary arrest for 30 days. He is being investigated on suspicion of threats, rape of a vulnerable person, sexual harassment, and unauthorized access to an electronic device, in a case that allegedly went beyond the boundaries of the relationship between coach and students.
In a post on Instagram, Diogo spoke out about the case and stated that he has always been treated with respect by the coach. At the same time, the athlete reiterated that he condemns any form of harassment or violence against women and children.
Regarding the recent events involving my teacher Melqui Galvão, I would like to publicly state the following: as for me, the teacher has always treated me with respect and attention, and I have love and gratitude for all the teachings and opportunities he gave me.
Regardless, regarding the facts disclosed, I hope they are properly investigated by the competent authorities and that justice is served. As a person and as a professional, I condemn any act of harassment or any other form of violence against women and children, and I am part of this fight.
"I remain focused on my career, my training, and the team that now, more than ever, needs me, with all the respect and dedication as always," Diogo Reis said on social media.

To date, Melqui Galvão's defense has not made a public statement on the case. It is worth remembering that the coach is under investigation, is the only name on the case, and there has not yet been a judicial conviction.
