Carlos Prates has an agreement with Ian Garry that, if fulfilled, could excite Brazilian fans. The Fighting Nerds athlete, defeated by the Irishman at UFC Kansas, has built a relationship of respect with his rival, and both have expressed interest in a rematch on Brazilian soil.
In an interview with 'Full Send MMA', Prates revealed that he has been in contact with Ian Garry and, based on these contacts, they understood that a new fight in Brazil would be the ideal scenario, especially given Garry's connection to the country.

“A month and a half ago, he called me and we talked a bit. He talked about my fight, I talked about his fight, and we have an agreement (to have the rematch in Brazil). That's what we want, because he really likes Brazil. His wife is from Brazil, he has family in Brazil. It would be great, of course, for me and for him, to fight in Brazil for the title, and also to have a rematch,” said Carlos Prates.
The Brazilian also highlighted that, despite their friendly relationship outside the octagon, their focus within the sport is professional. According to Prates, both see the fight as a business opportunity and a chance for financial gain, making it clear that friendship takes a backseat while they are competing.
“We’re friends, we have a lot of respect for each other. But it’s just business. He just wants to make money, you know? He just wants to make a lot of money, and then we can go back to being friends, you know?” concluded the Fighting Nerds smoker.

Before thinking about his rematch with Ian Garry , Carlos Prates has more urgent matters to attend to. The Fighting Nerds smoker has a duel scheduled with Jack Della Maddalena in the main event of UFC Perth , in Australia, next Saturday (3), in an event with an unconventional time for the Brazilian public. The preliminary card is scheduled for 5 am (Brasília time), while the main card is scheduled to start at 8 am.
