The seemingly ageless Yoel Romero continues to claim victims in combat sports. At 49 years old, the Cuban was the main attraction at 'Gamebred Bareknuckle', Jorge Masvidal 's bare-knuckle MMA event , held last Friday (1st) in Miami (USA), and he did not disappoint. The legendary fighter showed himself to be more violent than ever and needed just over a minute to knock out Alex Nicholson. The punishment was so severe that 'Soldier of God' broke the American's jaw.

Originally, Romero was supposed to face Hector Lombard , his compatriot and rival, but since Lombard withdrew from the fight, Nicholson accepted the challenge and soon regretted it. It's true that the American tried to surprise the veteran early on, but from the moment he was taken down with a double leg, he struggled against his power. It only took one powerful punch to his opponent's face for the Cuban to immediately feel the impact.

With a broken jaw, Nicholson tapped out with his famous three taps on the ground. The attentive referee, prioritizing the athlete's well-being, ended the fight, officially awarding Romero the victory by technical knockout. After the fight, 'Soldier of God' made a point of speaking to his victim and, displaying sportsmanship, kissed his forehead.

Romero's fighters in MMA

Yoel Romero , 49, is a legend in combat sports. In his golden years in wrestling, the Cuban won the silver medal at the Sydney Olympics (AUS) in 2000, and several other prestigious titles. In MMA, 'Soldier of God' also stood out in the UFC, even competing for the interim and undisputed middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) titles.

In this style of fighting, the veteran built a record of 17 wins, 14 by knockout, and seven losses. His main victories were over Chris Weidman , Luke Rockhold , Lyoto Machida , Ronaldo Jacaré , Thiago Marreta , and Tim Kennedy.
