Melqui Galvão case: victims detail episodes of harassment in complaints against the coach.

Former students detail their accusations of harassment and sexual abuse against coach Melqui Galvão. Last Tuesday (28), the combat sports community was negatively surprised by the arrest of the black belt, father of the phenomenon Mica Galvão. According to the victims' accounts, the episodes allegedly occurred during their adolescence.

In statements to the program 'Fantástico', one of the victims was sleeping during a competition trip when the black belt initiated the act.

“He put his hand inside my shirt, and that's when I woke up. I tried to pull his hand out of my shirt, but I was terrified at that moment. I woke up startled,” the victim recounted.

After the girl reported the incident to her parents, Melqui responded with a 16-minute audio message attempting to explain the situation, which upset the girl's mother.

"There, he showed that he never saw my daughter as the athlete she was, but always with different eyes," said the mother.

Another student, now an adult, explained that she was 12 years old at the time of her first contact with Melqui. Also in an interview with 'Fantástico', she reported that the coach offered sponsorship, a situation that, according to her, facilitated the approach.

"And then, one day, he asked to pick me up from school. That's when he asked me to touch him," the victim recounted.

Former student claims Melqui Galvão took her to a motel.

According to the girl, Melqui took her to a motel two years later, where she claims he pressured her into having sexual relations.

“It happened when I was 14 years old, which is when he actually had sexual intercourse with me. He always wanted to make me think it was a normal situation, that he had already had relationships with other students…”, said the girl.

"Many people knew, especially people from academia. They just asked me to leave it behind, forget about it, and move on with my life," she concluded.
