Carlos Prates impressed at UFC Perth and, experiencing the best moment of his career, is more confident than ever. In the main event held last Saturday (2), in Australia, the Brazilian knocked out former champion Jack Della Maddalena in hostile territory in the third round, establishing himself as one of the forces in the welterweight division (up to 77,1 kg). Now, the striker is closer to a title shot, but he doesn't hide that he wants to rewrite history with an old acquaintance.
In the post- UFC Perth press conference , Prates openly expressed his desire to face Ian Garry again and guaranteed that the result would be different. It's worth noting that the pair faced each other in 2025, and on that occasion, the Irishman defeated his opponent by unanimous decision. In fact, 'The Nightmare's' only loss in the company was precisely to the European fighter.

In the fight, Prates struggled in the first three rounds, but improved in the final stretch and almost knocked out 'The Future' in the fifth round. Given his improvement since then, the Brazilian is convinced that, in a possible rematch, Garry won't have the same luck. Interestingly, even having his arm raised in the first fight, the Irishman seems open to facing his rival again in Brazil.
“I think if I fight him, the fight won’t last 25 minutes. After losing to him, I learned a lot of things. I think you can see how different I am inside the octagon. Yes, let’s do this,” said the UFC’s top welterweight.
