Despite the seriousness of the injury, the former fighter jokingly described the situation in the post's caption. In the image, he is lying in a hospital bed with a smile on his face and his right hand open, showing his recently sutured finger.

"Thankfully, God has been very good to me... He left me nine more (fingers) to work with," said the former champion, generating incredulous comments from various sports personalities.

Although he hasn't revealed how the injury occurred, Hughes is known for being very active even in retirement.
