Mauricio Ruffy urgently needs to protect himself, as his name has been involved in a very unpleasant rumor. The top lightweight (up to 70,3 kg), who is preparing to face Michael Chandler at UFC Casa Branca , an event scheduled to take place on June 14 in Washington (USA), was criticized by many for his reaction to Carlos Prates ' great victory over Jack Della Maddalena last Saturday (2). Without wasting time, the former member of the 'Fighting Nerds' academy put an end to the controversy.

Speculation began after the official UFC Brazil profile posted a simple video of Ruffy celebrating 'The Nightmare's' victory. In it, the athlete stopped his training at the 'CORNERMAN' gym to watch Prates in action, openly expressed his happiness with the knockout in the third round, called him a phenomenon, and declared that he would be the welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg). However, many saw a problem with Mauricio's behavior and, on social media, stated that he did not act naturally, called him a false friend, and questioned his loyalty.

But recently, through his Instagram Stories, Ruffy shared a recording of a call with Prates, and in the conversation, they both laughed. In it, the athlete once again congratulated his friend on the most important victory of his career and invited him to stay in Orlando (USA) during his preparation for UFC Casa Branca.

It's true that Ruffy has been heavily criticized by Jean Silva , largely due to his partnership with Alexander Volkanovski , the featherweight champion (up to 65,8 kg), and his departure from 'Fighting Nerds'. However, the fighter showed that he has no problem whatsoever with Prates and that the rumor pointing to a rift between them is completely unfounded.
