Junior Cigano believes that the arrival of MVP MMA could create real competition for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg) expressed enthusiasm for the growth of the new organization, which will have events streamed on Netflix.

In an interview with journalist Ariel Helwani, Cigano highlighted that the entry of a strong new league into the market tends to benefit the fighters, the fans, and the development of MMA worldwide.

"1000%, absolutely. I think this is going to be huge for MMA, for the fighters, for the sport itself, and also for the fans. We're talking about MMA on the biggest streaming platform in the world, Netflix. The UFC is already there with Paramount, and now we have MVP on Netflix. This is gigantic for the sport."

That's the basis of pure capitalism: you need competition for things to improve for everyone. So I see that as a very positive thing.

I truly hope that people will follow along, and I also invite everyone to watch, participate, and get involved with these events, because this will be something very big for the sport, for the fighters, and also for the fans.

I'm really looking forward to it. I want everyone to be watching. Nowadays practically everyone has Netflix, so you can just go there and watch the fights,” declared Cigano.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos is one of the most respected Brazilians in MMA history. Throughout his career, the Santa Catarina native has accumulated 23 wins and 10 losses and has faced some of the biggest names in the division, winning the belt of the world's premier organization by defeating Cain Velasquez in 2011.

The Brazilian successfully defended his title against Frank Mir , but ended up losing the belt in the rematch against Velasquez and failed to return to the top of the division. Even so, Cigano still fought for the heavyweight title two more times: again against Cain Velasquez , in the trilogy between the two, and against Stipe Miocic.

Johnny Walker opens up about his heavyweight debut at UFC 332.
