Diego Lopes has ambitious plans for the future in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Scheduled to face Steve Garcia at UFC Casa Branca on June 14th, the Brazilian, who represents Mexico in the organization, doesn't rule out moving up to the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg). According to the fighter from Manaus, his style qualifies him to compete for the BMF belt, including a possible duel against Charles Oliveira.
The change in weight class, however, would not signify a definitive transition, but rather an alternative to remain more active in the UFC. Known for accepting challenges and delivering intense fights, Lopes sees his own style as an ideal matchup for the BMF title, making a potential confrontation with Charles Oliveira especially attractive for his career.

“I like to fight and people know me. If I have the chance to be more active, I’ll take it. I have the style for BMF and a fight with Charles would clearly be great and I think it’s possible too,” declared the Brazilian in an interview with the North American website 'Full Send MMA'.
Former UFC lightweight champion, record holder for bonuses and submissions, Charles Oliveira remains among the top names in the organization, currently ranked third in the division. After defeating Mateuz Gamrot in Brazil in October and Max Holloway in March, he is getting closer to another title shot.
Rising in the company, Diego Lopes has gained popularity precisely because of his offensive performances and his history of submissions. Before thinking about a possible super fight against Charles, however, the Brazilian will face the challenge of overcoming knockout artist Steve Garcia at the White House event.
