Gabriel Marretinha has a golden opportunity in the Ultimate, but first he had to face the scales at UFC Vegas 118. The Brazilian faces Belal Muhammad in the main event, scheduled for next Saturday (6), and to confirm his chance to enter the top 5 of the welterweight rankings (up to 77 kg), he needed the half-pound tolerance at the official weigh-in.

The first fighter to step on the scale, Bonfim weighed in at 77,3 kg, the same weight as his rival, Belal Muhammad . With six wins and only one loss in the octagon, Gabriel Marretinha is going through a great phase in the welterweight division. The Brazilian has a streak of four consecutive victories and currently occupies the 11th position in the category's ranking.

Update: Junior Tafa weighed in at 93,4 kg on his second attempt and confirmed his fight against Iwo Baraniewski. The New Zealander used the extra hour to cut the excess weight and meet the weight limit for the category, within the allowed tolerance.

Brazilian squad makes weight and confirms fights at UFC Vegas 118

In a catchweight bout (up to 58,9 kg), Alessandro Nono, who accepted the fight with only 10 days' notice, came in 200g below the limit and confirmed his bout against Matt Schnell , which closes the preliminary card.

The second-to-last athlete to step on the scale, Bruno "Bulldog," left fans apprehensive, but, using the one-pound allowance, he reached the flyweight limit (up to 56,7 kg).

Veteran Priscila Cachoeira easily stepped on the scale and made the bantamweight limit (up to 61,2 kg), while newcomer Jeisla Chaves came in under the category at 56,3 kg and confirmed her fight in the flyweight division.

In the all-Brazilian duel that opens the event card, Ketlen Esquentadinha and Ariane Sorriso both weighed in at 52,2 kg, confirming their fight in the strawweight division (up to 52,2 kg).
