Ilia Topuria avoided any kind of excuse after the defeat to Justin Gaethje at UFC Casa Branca , held this Sunday (14). Favorite in the main fight, the Spaniard ended up being defeated by the American in a tough fight, which left visible marks on his face , but did not shake his confidence.

In a social media post, Topuria acknowledged Gaethje's merit and highlighted the damage he suffered in the early rounds, when his vision was compromised in both eyes. Even so, he emphasized that he had one of the best preparations of his career and entered the octagon ready for the challenge, classifying the result as a natural part of the sport.

“Justin, congratulations. You said you’d leave your mark on my face… and you did. You took the sight out of my right eye in the first round and, at the end of the second, out of my left as well. No excuses. I had one of the best camps of my life. I went in sharp, prepared, and ready. Last night was yours. That’s the nature of this game. Glory and pain walk side by side,” said Ilia Topuria.
