One of the most popular names in the sport and widely recognized for his confidence, it was to be expected that Ilia Topuria 's defeat against Justin Gaethje at UFC Casa Branca would generate strong reactions from various combat sports personalities. In this context, the Georgian/Spanish fighter was attacked by boxer Terrence Crawford in a tweet minutes after the fight concluded. Surprisingly, Conor McGregor came to El Matador's defense and proceeded to demolish the American's statements.
See too
It all started when the boxer, a multi-champion in the noble art and undefeated in 42 fights, mocked Topuria's performance by recalling the Georgian/Spanish fighter's intention to compete in boxing against Crawford himself, as well as against Shakur Stevenson, world champion in four weight categories and Olympic runner-up.
"Is this the guy who said he'd knock me out and beat me up along with Shakur at the same time?" Crawford declared.
This the guy that said he would knock me out and whoop me and Shakur at the same time?😂😂😂

Conor McGregor did not accept the provocations.
Next, it was McGregor's turn to defend his fellow professional and reprimand the American. According to the Irishman, who is scheduled to return to the world's most famous octagon on July 11 against Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329 , a boxer provoking Topuria over a result in an MMA fight would be embarrassing.
“What the f*** are you saying? You can wrestle, but you’re afraid of an MMA fight. That, to me, is pathetic. The kid got beaten up in an MMA fight, which you don’t have the courage to do. What the f*** was all this with all these little boxers at the show, but no MMA fighters?” he exclaimed.
What the fuck are you saying? You can wrestle yet you are afraid of an mma fight.
That to me is pitiful.
The kid was beaten in an MMA fight, of which you don't have the courage for.
What the fuck was with all these little boxers at this show yet no MMA fighters?… https://t.co/cqmO1NHrs6
