If in the past Alex Poatan and Israel Adesanya starred in one of the greatest rivalries in combat sports, currently, the relationship between them has completely changed. And UFC Casa Branca is further proof of the rapprochement between the former champions. In the co-main event held last Sunday (14), in Washington (USA), the Brazilian was no match for Ciryl Gane and ended up being brutally knocked out in the second round. As he usually reacts to duels, the Nigerian lamented the result.
Before Poatan debuted in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg), 'The Last Stylebender' declared his support for him to become the first triple champion in UFC history. However, what was seen in the octagon was a monologue from the Frenchman, who showed no mercy to the veteran and punished him. As the end of the fight was violent, Adesanya expressed his suffering at the Brazilian's fall. But, even visibly upset by the tough defeat of his former rival, the former king of the middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg) made sure to praise him, displaying great sportsmanship.
