Alex Poatan 's defeat to Ciryl Gane at UFC Casa Branca may not have been the last chapter of the rivalry. After contesting controversial incidents that occurred during the fight for the interim heavyweight belt (up to 120,2 kg), last Sunday (14), in Washington DC (USA). The Brazilian revealed that he has already contacted the organization to defend the holding of an immediate rematch against the Frenchman.
Poatan's request comes just days after his loss to Gane in the co-main event. On his YouTube channel, the Brazilian began pointing out situations he considered irregular during the fight, arguing that these episodes had a direct impact on the outcome of the interim title bout in the division.

“I explained it to them, I talked about the illegal strikes. I said the right thing to do is an immediate rematch, and they asked me for a few days. So they'll see what they're going to do soon,” revealed the two-time champion.
The defeat prevented Poatan from achieving an unprecedented feat in the organization. The former middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) and light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) champion from São Paulo was attempting to become the first athlete in UFC history to win titles in three different weight classes. The opportunity was seen by many experts as one of the greatest challenges of his MMA career, especially since it came against a well-established heavyweight opponent.
Despite the setback, the Brazilian showed interest in remaining in the division and did not rule out a new attempt to reach the top of the category. At 38 years old, Poatan remains one of the organization's main stars and maintains great prestige with UFC executives, factors that may influence the definition of his next steps.
