UFC Ranking: Alex Poatan and Ilia Topuria plummet after defeats at UFC Casa Branca

Alex Poatan and Ilia Topuria not only lost their belts at UFC Casa Branca , but also prominent positions in the Ultimate's pound-for-pound ranking. Favorites in the main fights of the event held last Sunday (14), the Brazilian and the Spaniard ended up being knocked out by Justin Gaethje and Ciryl Gane , respectively. The results had a direct impact on the ranking update released this Tuesday (16), causing both to plummet in the list.

Defeated in the co-main event, Alex Poatan dropped from fourth to eighth place in the pound-for-pound rankings. Ciryl Gane , who wasn't even on the list previously, debuted directly in 12th place.

Although the fight took place in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg), Alex Poatan did not appear in the category's ranking. Even so, the Brazilian remains second in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg).

In addition to not being ranked in the UFC's heaviest division, Poatan saw his rival, Josh Hokit , move up one position to reach fourth place.

Justin Gaethje continues to take the place that previously belonged to Ilia Topuria . With his defeat at UFC Casa Branca , the Spaniard not only lost the lightweight title (up to 70,3 kg) and his undefeated record, but also dropped from second place in the pound-for-pound rankings. In contrast, his conqueror—who didn't even appear on the list—jumped to fourth position.
