Gaining popularity with each fight, the controversial Josh Hokit has already set his next target in the world's largest MMA organization. At UFC Casa Branca , an event held last Sunday (14) in Washington (USA), the bad boy made short work of Derrick Lewis , knocking him out in the second round and thus reaching fourth place in the heavyweight ranking (up to 120,2 kg). Now, the American has moved closer not only to competing for the belt, but also to a potential duel with Alex Poatan.

And, known for his hostile 'trash talk', Hokit showed no mercy to the Brazilian, who is going through a difficult time in his career. Upon learning that Poatan blamed referee Herb Dean for the brutal defeat suffered against Ciryl Gane in the second round and described the jab, which stunned him and initiated the knockout, as a lucky punch, the American provoked him.

According to the bad boy, the veteran invented an excuse to downplay his disappointing performance in the octagon. Furthermore, Hokit stated that such a tactic is nothing new for Poatan. Therefore, the athlete once again openly expressed his desire to teach the UFC star a lesson.

“Go home and recover, you crybaby. That way, we can fight and you’ll have to come up with another excuse to justify your defeat. Let’s go,” wrote the UFC sensation on his official account on 'X'.

Poatan's justifications

In total, Poatan lost three fights in the UFC. In the first, held in 2023, the Brazilian was knocked out by Israel Adesanya in the middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg) and blamed the brutal weight cut for the result. In 2025, in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg), the veteran was controlled by Magomed Ankalaev , losing by unanimous decision and claiming that he fought injured and ill. Now, after being knocked out, the striker showed conviction that he would recover in the fight, but the referee harmed him by not penalizing Gane for the series of illegal blows to the back of the head.
