After delivering great fights to sports fans last Sunday (14) at the White House, some of the main MMA stars will need to stay out of action for a while. Last Thursday (18), Andy Foster, executive director of the California Athletic Commission, released the medical suspension periods stipulated for the athletes who participated in the last event promoted by Dana White, with deadlines that may surprise Mixed Martial Arts enthusiasts.

Currently the biggest star in the UFC, Alex Poatan will have to stay out of action for 180 days. This period could be reduced if the Brazilian receives medical clearance through a CT scan. On the other hand, he is required to undergo a 45-day no-contact period due to the knockout.
The fighter from São Paulo was knocked out by Ciryl Gane in the second round of the co-main event of the night, a fight for the interim heavyweight title (up to 120,2 kg). The fight also brought controversy related to alleged blows to the back of the head that the Pataxó Indian supposedly received in the final sequence of the fight.
In addition to Poatan, Gaethje and Topuria are also suspended.

Involved in one of the best fights of the year, both Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje received a six-month suspension, which may be reduced if the athletes present medical reports that allow them to return to training and competition. Having been knocked out, the Georgian/Spanish fighter will be required to undergo a 60-day period without receiving blows to the head.
