Alexander Volkanovski has once again considered the possibility of pursuing a double championship in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). After being defeated by Islam Makhachev in two previous attempts, the Australian gained new momentum after seeing Justin Gaethje defeat Ilia Topuria at UFC Casa Branca and began to view a possible duel between veterans in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg) favorably.
In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Alexander Volkanovski stated that he would not hesitate to accept the fight and highlighted the appeal of a clash between two experienced fighters in the category.

“People ask me if I would do that? Of course I would, two 38-year-old guys facing off in the lightweight division,” said Alexander Volkanovski.
Justin Gaethje is the new UFC lightweight champion.
Despite being considered the underdog, with odds of five to one at the betting houses, the American surprised everyone by defeating Ilia Topuria in the main event of UFC Casa Branca . Gaethje initially faced difficulties under pressure from the Spaniard in the second round, but reacted quickly, took control of the fight, and punished the then-champion until forcing him to tap out between the fourth and fifth rounds.
