The former interim lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg) was detained by the police in the state of Georgia, last Sunday (21), accused of public drunkenness. Images from the police officer's body camera show that "The Diamond" even called for a fight before being handcuffed.
In the video, published by the 'TMZ Sports' website, Poirier is seen arguing with the police officers and even takes off his backpack before stating that he 'was going to fight' with the officer. Fans also pointed out that the fighter adjusted his pants, repeating a characteristic mannerism from his career inside the octagon.

The infraction is considered minor, but it can mean up to a year in jail or a fine. According to TMZ, the former fighter was released a few hours later, around 22:15 pm.
