On Saturday afternoon (27), in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, Matheus Camilo starred in one of the biggest surprises of UFC Baku . Facing Nazim Sadykhov in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg) and with the crowd completely in favor of the opponent, the 25-year-old Brazilian needed only a few seconds to settle the score. With a precise counter right, the fighter who was a pupil of Dedé Pederneiras erased the Azerbaijani's favoritism and achieved a lightning knockout, securing his second consecutive victory in the UFC.

Matheus Camilo entered the octagon undeterred by the hostile environment and showed he was prepared for the biggest challenge of his career. As soon as the fight began, Sadykhov moved forward to impose his rhythm, but was surprised by a perfect counter punch from the Brazilian. The blow immediately knocked the home fighter down, and Camilo didn't waste the opportunity, going for ground and pound until forcing a quick stoppage from the referee, securing the victory by technical knockout in the first round.

In the flyweight division (up to 56,7 kg), Asu Almabayev showed from the first seconds that he would impose his rhythm against Johnson. The Kazakh fighter started the fight aggressively, using straight punches to find his opponent's face. With less than two minutes of combat, he varied the levels well, closed the distance and achieved the first takedown. On the ground, he sought to control the action with strikes from above, but saw the American get back to his feet. Even so, he maintained the pressure and took the fight back to the ground.
In the second round, Almabayev began to focus on low kicks, punishing Johnson's base from the very first moments. On his feet, the fight remained balanced, with good moments for both sides. Despite this, the Kazakh fighter once again relied on his strong wrestling, secured another takedown, and worked to maintain control in a dominant position on the ground.
In the third round, Johnson tried to surprise with a knee strike, but Almabayev showed excellent reading of the game and took advantage of the opening to take him down again. The American then tried to lock in a triangle choke, but the Kazakh fighter defended well, escaped the threat, and maintained the positional advantage. In a technical and intense ground fight, Asu found the perfect opportunity to finish the fight, submitting Johnson with a (Suloev Stretch) at 3:33 of the third round.
