However, such a clash did not materialize, and 'DC' opened up about the episode.
During a Q&A session with fans, Cormier finally explained why the superfight against the giant didn't happen, much to his disappointment. At the height of their encounter in the octagon, Lesnar, who overshadowed Cormier's moment of glory, didn't care and pushed him, an action that drove the fans wild and fueled a potential confrontation.

It's worth noting that, at the time, Lesnar, former UFC heavyweight champion, was not a fighter for the company but rather one of the biggest stars of WWE, the world's largest pro-wrestling organization. Therefore, Cormier stressed that the duel against the 6'4" and 220 lb giant was only not made official due to contractual disagreements, not due to a lack of interest from either party.
“I really wanted that. I was at my daughter’s gymnastics competition when I got a call from an unknown number. I said, ‘Hello, who is this?’ ‘It’s Brock.’ I said, ‘Hey, Brock? Why are you calling me?’ He said, ‘I heard you’re going to fight that big white guy,’” said the MMA legend.
“I asked, ‘Miocic?’ He said, ‘Yes. If you knock him out, it’ll be an early Christmas for your family, because we’re going to fight.’ I thought, ‘Wow, okay, Brock.’ Then, at UFC 200, he called me and texted me saying, ‘Merry Christmas, DC. I’ll be at UFC 200.’ I was like, ‘Yes.’ Because every time Brock fought, it got over a million pay-per-views.”
