Brazilian 'King of the Knockout' abandons his title to pursue his dream of fighting in the UFC; understand why.

Promising mixed martial arts fighter Kaik Brito has made a difficult and important decision in his career. Last Friday (3), the Brazilian, aiming to grow in the sport, announced that he gave up his status as welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg) of Oktagon MMA because of his dream of joining the UFC. However, the athlete will not debut directly in Dana White's organization, but will have to show his worth and convince him that he deserves such an opportunity.

Kaik, nicknamed the "King of Knockouts," is slated to participate in the tenth season of the reality show 'Contender Series'. This information was confirmed by the athlete's manager. Currently, the Brazilian is awaiting confirmation of the date and his opponent on the program.

In fact, this is the second time the athlete has participated in the show. In 2023, Kaik lost against Oban Elliott via majority decision. In any case, as he stood out in the European organization, the professional has once again come onto the UFC's radar.

“First of all, I want to thank God for everything that is happening in my life. Today, I am ceasing to be the Oktagon champion, I am vacating the belt. I want to thank Oktagon for all the opportunities that were given to me, for the history built in the event. I am pursuing my goal,” said the fighter on his official Instagram account.

“I want to thank Oktagon for allowing me to fight in Contender. That’s it. To everyone who is cheering me on, following me, only gratitude. Eternal gratitude to the event for all the opportunities. Let’s go for it in search of another goal,” he concluded.

"The best and most talented 77 kg fighter confirmed for the UFC Contender Series 🔥🔥, the king of knockouts is coming," the manager wrote on his Instagram profile.

“Brito is no longer the welterweight champion. Kaik has decided to follow his dreams in pursuit of becoming the best fighter in the world. Thank you for your incredible performances! We wish you the best of luck on your journey, Kaik! Consequently, the welterweight title is officially vacant now,” the organization wrote on the same platform.
