Paulo Borrachinha wasted no time in mocking Brazil's elimination from the 2026 World Cup. The five-time world champion team was defeated by Norway 2-1 in the round of 16, a result that generated great repercussion and opened space for provocations on social media from the former UFC middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) title challenger .

In a post on 'X', Paulo Borrachinha shared an image of a favela with open sewers and added a sarcastic caption, stating that despite the football defeat, Brazil would still be more beautiful than Norway, ironically attributing the photo to the European country.

How did Brazil's defeat against Norway feel?

Brazil was eliminated by Norway after losing 2-1 in a match marked by missed opportunities and defensive errors. In the first half, the Brazilian team missed a penalty, while the Norwegians did manage to put the ball in the net, but had a goal disallowed. Thus, the teams went into halftime with the score at 0-0.

In the final stage, the game became more open, and Norway took advantage of the spaces left by the Brazilian defense. With two goals from Haaland, the Europeans opened up a lead and secured their qualification for the quarterfinals.

In the final minutes, Brazil still had a chance to react with another penalty. This time, Neymar converted the kick and reduced the score, but the goal was not enough to prevent Brazil's elimination.

The hatred from fans towards the fighter from Minas Gerais isn't something that came out of nowhere; Borrachinha recently made it clear that he doesn't need the attention of Brazilian fans. In an interview with 'Ag. Fight', the middleweight reinforced that he doesn't see the need to count on the support of the Brazilian fans to succeed in the UFC. In his opinion, the sport is global and an athlete's career doesn't depend exclusively on acceptance in their own country to generate results, sales, or relevance.

“But honestly, I don’t need the Brazilian audience. I don’t think anyone needs it in the UFC. What are you going to do there? Sell merchandise? Sell tickets? Sell pay-per-view? I don’t think it makes sense. Honestly, my family is Brazilian, my coaches are, but the sport is international,” Paulo Borrachinha declared.
