Conor McGregor reappears after serious injury at UFC 329 and makes a promise about the future: 'I will return'

After his frustrating return at UFC 329 , Conor McGregor spoke out again about the serious knee injury he suffered in the main event, held last Saturday (11), in Las Vegas (USA). The former featherweight (up to 65,7 kg) and lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) champion used social media to lament what happened, rebut criticism about his preparation and reinforce that he intends to return to the octagon.

In a post on his official X account (formerly Twitter), the Irishman stated that he arrived at the fight against Max Holloway in peak physical condition and refuted criticisms that he was not prepared to compete after more than five years away from MMA. 'The Notorious' made it clear that he does not intend to end his career in this way.

“I was so prepared and sharp for this fight that I can’t believe what happened. To say I was out of my mind going into the fight is absurd. I was calm, ready and confident. I’m in shock at what happened. The devil is literally staring me down right in front of me. I’m not going to go into the fight. I’ll be in church tomorrow. I’ll get through this. I won’t let myself be brought down. I’ll be back,” McGregor wrote.

The injury occurred in the opening minutes of the fight, when the Irishman suffered a serious knee problem and was unable to continue. The referee stopped the fight, declaring Max Holloway the winner by technical knockout.

Despite the tough setback, McGregor showed confidence in his recovery and made it clear that his career is far from over. The Irishman will have to face another long period of rehabilitation before thinking about a return to the UFC.
