Arrested on charges of rape and other sexual crimes, Melqui Galvão, father and former coach of Mica Galvão, has once again gained negative attention. The black belt in Jiu-Jitsu was caught on June 25th with a cell phone hidden in his underwear during a surprise inspection carried out after anonymous reports about the presence of devices inside the Civil Police Prison in Santana, in the northern zone of São Paulo.

According to records from the General Inspectorate of the Civil Police, officers conducted searches of the cells and inmates. During the search, Melqui was subjected to a personal search, during which officers found a blue Motorola cell phone hidden in his underwear.
In a statement, the Public Security Secretariat reported that five devices were seized from detainees at the unit.

Melqui Galvão, a renowned Jiu-Jitsu coach and father of Mica Galvão, was arrested on suspicion of sexual crimes against minors, according to the website 'BNC Amazonas'. According to the publication, Melquisedeque de Lima Galvão Ferreira, 47, turned himself in to authorities after a São Paulo court issued a 30-day temporary arrest warrant; he is being investigated for threats, rape of a vulnerable person, sexual harassment, and unauthorized access to electronic devices, in cases that allegedly went beyond the relationship between coach and students.
