Charles Oliveira may not be in Justin Gaethje 's immediate plans for his first lightweight title defense (up to 70,3 kg). After Paddy Pimblett 's victory at UFC 329 and Max Holloway 's frustrating result against Conor McGregor , some fans and experts have been advocating for a rematch between the Brazilian and the American as the next natural step for the division. However, a statement from Ali Abdelaziz, the champion's manager, indicates that another path may be being considered.

In a social media post following UFC 329 , Abdelaziz stated that Gaethje should face a new opponent in his next fight. The promoter expressed enthusiasm for the matchup and revealed his excitement about the champion's next challenge, without revealing the name of the potential challenger.

Although Charles Oliveira , Paddy Pimblett , and Max Holloway are some of the top names in the lightweight division, they have all shared the octagon with Justin Gaethje . The champion has been defeated by both the Brazilian and the Hawaiian, while he emerged victorious in his fight against the Briton.

Therefore, another name that fits the description given by Ali Abdelaziz is Arman Tsarukyan . The Armenian has not yet faced Gaethje in the UFC and has not competed since his victory over Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar, held in November 2025, when he submitted the New Zealander.
