Like many MMA fans and professionals, Joe Rogan didn't hide his surprise at the outcome of UFC 329. In the main event held last Saturday (11), in Las Vegas (USA), Conor McGregor , who hadn't fought since 2021, made his return to the octagon against Max Holloway , but lost the fight after suffering a serious and devastating knee injury. And, according to the company's official commentator, the shocking result has a clear culprit.

In a conversation with Jon Anik and Daniel Cormier after UFC 329 , a shocked Rogan questioned the move and pointed out that the Irish star made the wrong choice in the important fight. In the first few seconds of the fight, McGregor tried to surprise 'Blessed' by throwing a flying kick, but landed awkwardly in the octagon and got injured. Thus, the rematch ended after just over a minute.

To make matters worse, 'Notorious', in addition to lacking fight rhythm, was also coming off a serious leg injury suffered during his loss to Dustin Poirier in the trilogy fight in 2021. Aware of this history, Rogan believes that McGregor, 38, acted rashly and made a mistake in relying on his own body to execute a difficult strike that rarely works in practice.

“He tried a crazy move. He tried a jumping kick, and when you throw that kind of kick, if you don’t land properly with your supporting leg, you end up putting enormous pressure on your knee. The way he did it, he hurt his knee. It was the worst position. He tore the ligament on the first movement he made. You can see the knee dislocating. It sucks, but you just don’t do that ,” Rogan said.

"Mainly because Holloway was moving. Maybe he wanted to prove he can still kick with that leg. I don't know. I don't know why he did it that way . Nobody will know. Only McGregor knows," he concluded.
