In June, in Washington (USA), Alex Poatan tried to become the first fighter to win three belts in different weight classes, but the dream didn't materialize. In the co-main event of UFC Casa Branca , the Brazilian debuted in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg), was no match for Ciryl Gane , and was brutally knocked out in the second round. Because the fight was one-sided, many disapproved of the renowned striker's performance, and Jan Blachowicz is part of that group.

In an interview with 'Home of Fight', the Polish fighter, defeated by Poatan via split decision in 2023, criticized his performance against 'Bon Gamin' and pointed out differences in his performances at light heavyweight (up to 93 kg). Indeed, the Brazilian failed to impose himself in the octagon, showed apprehension, and struggled with Gane's movement, speed, and power, becoming easy prey.

It is true that the athlete claims that the blows he received to the back of the neck hampered his performance. However, Blachowicz, who makes no secret of his admiration and respect for Poatan, downplayed the incident and highlighted the high level and superiority of the Frenchman.

“He didn’t look good in that fight. With all due respect to him, because I really like Alex. But he didn’t look good in that fight. He was heavy, slow . Gane was simply better , even without the illegal punches happening. He only threw the punches because he felt he could finish the fight. Alex moved a little. So, it’s hard to put everything correctly. He lost the fight, and that’s it ,” said the former champion.
