Sean Strickland already has a challenger lined up for his first middleweight title defense (up to 83,9 kg). After defeating Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 328 and winning the title, fans and experts began speculating about a possible immediate rematch for the Chechen. However, according to Nassourdine Imavov , this scenario is unlikely to materialize.

In a statement to the 'Jaiden Cable' channel, Imavov stated that he is next in line for the belt. The fighter revealed that, even before the fight between Strickland and Chimaev, he considered a fight against Dricus du Plessis to stay active. However, according to him, the UFC made it clear that his next commitment would be directly for the title.

“Of course, my next fight is for the title. Before the Strickland vs. Khamzat fight, I wanted to fight Dricus to stay active, and the UFC told me I could only fight for the belt. After Khamzat vs. Strickland, I'm 100% focused on fighting for the belt.”, Nassoudine Imavov.

With Sean Strickland as middleweight champion, the category is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in the UFC. In addition to Nassourdine Imavov and Khamzat Chimaev , another strong name in the race for the belt is Dricus du Plessis . The South African has two wins over the current champion and arrives on a high after a dominant victory against Kamaru Usman at UFC Oklahoma , held last Saturday (18).

Just below them in the title race, Caio Borralho and Brendan Allen also stand out after convincing wins in their recent bouts. The division also features promising names like Joe Pyfer , Anthony Hernandez , Gregory Robocop , and Christian Leroy Duncan , all considered great prospects in the category.
