Originally, Shamil Musaev and Thad Jean were to headline, one of the most anticipated fights outside the UFC, valid for the welterweight belt (up to 77,1 kg), but the Russian was unable to compete and was removed from the show last Thursday (23). The information was released by the website 'MMA Junkie' and confirmed by the league itself.
Commenting on the incident, John Martin, president of the PFL, explained that Musaev had serious problems cutting weight. Nevertheless, despite the setback, the company acted quickly and found a new opponent for the promising American, who is still undefeated in MMA.
Ernesto Rodriguez, who has a chance to become the champion of the division, stepped in at the last minute to fight Jean. It's worth noting that the Cuban was originally on the preliminary card and now has the opportunity to take his career to the next level and shock the world.
