Recently, Jon Jones made a revelation that shocked fans and MMA professionals. The sports star, who last fought in 2024 in New York (USA), hasn't forgotten his rivalry with Daniel Cormier and surprised everyone by suggesting that the feud is less significant than imagined, with his opponent pretending to harbor anger . Upon learning of 'Bones' statement, the also legendary professional was not pleased.
On his YouTube channel, Cormier made a point of responding and refuting his longtime rival's claims. It all started when Jones revealed that, while talking to the wrestler backstage during the filming of the Russian TUF season, Jones confessed that the rivalry had earned him a lot of money and that he no longer held anything against him, but that, with the cameras rolling, he couldn't show that everything was fine.
Disgruntled, 'DC' stressed that such a conversation with Jones never happened and even called him crazy, since he criticizes him at certain times and praises him at others. It's true that Cormier didn't hide that he learned to deal with and live with 'Bones', but he assured that the rivalry, even with the passing of years, is not fake, remains more alive than ever, and that the two will never be close to each other.
“I saw a video recently where Jon was talking about our relationship. One thing that says a lot about it is, look at the difference. Not long ago, how does someone go from, 'He's a total jerk' to, 'I'd love to have that kind of relationship with him. He doesn't hate me'? That just didn't happen ,” said the MMA legend.
“He talked about taking something that compromised his anti-doping test, whether it was steroids or some illegal substance in a supplement, only to later say that he never used steroids. He contradicts himself . I don't know if you know what that means, but it refers to someone who defends one 'truth' in their mind and another 'truth' elsewhere, but in the end, neither of them is true.”
“ Regarding the conversation itself, that’s not a conversation we had . It simply isn’t. You always need someone on the other side to make a lot of money. That’s not a lie. Jon and I made a lot of money to go to Thailand. Of course, we made money, because our rivalry has always been what it was, but that doesn’t mean it’s fabricated .”
“I already said that the situation isn’t like it used to be. We can work together. In fact, it’s tolerable to be in the same space as Jon without feeling like we’re going to attack each other and start fighting at any moment. I said that my emotions have calmed down, in the sense that I no longer feel that burning desire to finish him off.”
“But that doesn’t mean I’m forgiving all the wrongdoings and everything that happened throughout our careers, or that I’ve forgotten the horrible things we said to each other. We said horrible things about each other’s families. That kind of thing doesn’t disappear easily. Unless you’re crazy, and I think Jon is crazy . But that didn’t happen, we didn’t have that conversation.”
“But there he goes talking. It’s a constant thing, it’s like he’s kind of obsessed, with a burning desire for us to have a good relationship . That didn’t happen . We didn’t have that conversation where I sat down with him and said, ‘When the cameras are rolling, you’re my enemy.’ No. He’s my enemy all the time . That’s just how things are, and that’s okay.”
“Like I said before, you can sleep at night having an enemy. Not everyone needs a fairy-tale happy ending. I don’t. And neither does Jon. He shouldn’t need that. I always try not to talk about all this stuff, but obviously someone put a microphone in Jon’s face and he started talking about what I said, but it’s not true .”
“It is what it is. Why is there any interest in watching two older guys arguing? How old is Jon? 40? I’m 47. We’re old. You know what’s crazy? Usually, when you get older, you start liking people less because you get more grumpy. I’m grumpier than before. So, yes, Jon, I still hate you and I always will ,” he concluded.

What happened in the two fights between Jones and Cormier?
In their first fight, held in 2015 and which became a classic, Jon Jones defeated Daniel Cormier by unanimous decision (49-46 3x) and defended the UFC light heavyweight title (up to 93 kg) for the eighth time. In the highly anticipated rematch, which took place in 2017, 'Bones' knocked out 'DC'.
