Valter Walker believes a fight against Josh Hokit is only a matter of time in the UFC. Despite the growing rivalry between the two heavyweights (up to 120,2 kg), built through provocations in interviews and on social media , one detail still prevents the duel from being official: their positions in the category's ranking. Confident, the Brazilian projects that the fight will happen as soon as both are at compatible levels within the division.
In an interview with MMA Fighting, the 'foot hunter' acknowledged the current difference in the rankings, but indicated that the scenario could change soon. According to him, a victory in his next fight combined with a possible defeat for his rival could pave the way for the long-awaited encounter.
“He’s ranked above me right now. But if I win my next fight and he loses his, we’ll meet. There’s no way around it. It’s a fight I’d like to have, but I understand that, at this moment, he’s a level above me. There’s not much I can do,” said Valter Walker.

Walker also highlighted that, despite the interest in the fight, he prefers not to force a situation that doesn't make sense for the organization at this time. The fighter stated that he understands the fight would hardly be accepted now and avoided creating unrealistic expectations among fans, assuring them that he will wait for the right moment to face his next opponent.
“I’m not going to force a fight that I know doesn’t make sense for the organization. I know they won’t give me that fight, and I know he won’t accept it. So, instead of creating expectations among the fans for something that might not happen, I’ll wait. When I get my chance, it will be the right chance against my next opponent,” concluded the ‘foot hunter’.

Although he made it clear that he doesn't want to accelerate his climb in the heavyweight division, Valter Walker has definitively cemented his name in the category by reaching a record of 16 wins and only one loss in his professional MMA career.
At 28 years old, the 'foot hunter' reached eighth place in the heavyweight rankings, boosted by his last performance when he needed only 1 minute and 32 seconds to finish American Thomas Petersen in the first round of UFC Abu Dhabi , held last Saturday (25).
With the victory, the Brazilian achieved his fifth consecutive submission win in the octagon, all applied to his opponents' legs and resolved in the first round, equaling the historic record that belonged exclusively to the legend Demian Maia.
