Carlos Diego Ferreira returned to the win column this Saturday (8), after beating Billy Quarantillo in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 120. In a fight valid for the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg), the man from Manaus now has a record of 20 wins and seven losses, with 12 positive results achieved by stoppage. The Brazilian challenged King Green and Jim Miller.

Billy Quarantillo landed the first strong strike, but Carlos Diego Ferreira responded a few seconds later with a powerful knee strike in the clinch, which knocked his opponent down. The Brazilian took advantage of the moment to work his body shots and combine punches. Using his reach well, Diego found the distance to connect his strikes and, with two minutes remaining in the round, secured a takedown, gaining an advantage in the ground game.
In the second round, the Brazilian continued to combine strikes and maintain control of the fight. When Billy Quarantillo began to gain momentum in the round, Diego managed to take him down again, breaking his opponent's rhythm. The American managed to get back to his feet and resumed exchanging blows, but the Brazilian maintained the advantage, landed the better strikes, and even managed to stagger his opponent.

Quarantillo tried to increase the pace in the final stretch, but Diego continued to have the advantage in the striking exchanges. The American then sought the ground fight and managed to take the Brazilian down. Diego, however, quickly recovered, took his opponent's back and even transitioned to mount, putting Quarantillo in danger again. The American managed to escape and, in the final seconds, finished the round on top. The comeback, however, was not enough to erase the advantage built by the Brazilian throughout the fight.
At 41 years old, Carlos Diego Ferreira is one of the most experienced Brazilians in the UFC lightweight division. A black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, the Amazonian combines refined ground technique with great physical stamina, good boxing, and has accumulated more than a decade in the organization.
