At UFC Vegas 120 , held this Saturday (8), the Brazilian imposed his grappling game, took down heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg), Louie Sutherland and took the fight to his back before locking in a rear-naked choke (VIDEO BELOW) still in the first round, guaranteeing a victorious debut in the world's largest MMA organization .
At 29 years old, José Montanha made his debut representing Brazil in the heavyweight division. Known for his physical strength and offensive style, the athlete accumulated significant victories on the national scene before receiving the opportunity. He has seven wins by stoppage and his only loss was by decision.

Louie Sutherland started the fight looking to use feints and control the distance in the striking exchanges, but José Montanha quickly made it clear that he intended to take the fight to the ground. After neutralizing his opponent's first attempt, the Brazilian found the takedown and began to control the action from the top. Montanha punished Sutherland with strikes on the ground, advanced to his back and locked in a rear-naked choke to force the submission in the first round.
