Mackenzie Dern showed that there are levels in the current strawweight category (up to 52,2 kg) of the Ultimate. The Brazilian defended the division's belt against Gillian Robertson in the co-main event of UFC 330 , held last Saturday (15), and gave the Canadian no room to maneuver until winning by unanimous decision.
The faster-paced Brazilian started the fight looking for a grappling exchange. Despite showing superiority in striking, the jiu-jitsu black belt demonstrated her credentials in the gentle art and took the fight to the ground.
Dominating from the back and constantly threatening to submit her opponent, Mackenzie controlled the Canadian during the first four rounds. In the fifth and final round, however, the champion showed signs of fatigue and ended up giving more space to her rival.
