Dana White took advantage of Islam Makhachev 's victory over Ian Machado Garry , in the main fight of UFC 330 , held last Saturday (15), in Philadelphia (USA), to praise the welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg) and make a bold prediction about the future of his career in MMA.
In the post-event press conference, the UFC president highlighted the impressive winning streak of the Russian fighter, who reached his 17th consecutive victory in the organization and surpassed Anderson Silva 's record of 16 consecutive wins. According to Dana White, if Makhachev maintains the pace he has shown so far, the record could remain unbroken for many years.

"If Islam continues as he says he will, this streak may never be broken, at least not while I'm alive, so what he does is truly impressive," Dana White stated.
The victory over Garry also marked the Russian's first welterweight title defense. The champion controlled much of the fight with his takedown game and ground dominance, but had to contend with moments of resistance from the Irishman throughout the five rounds.

At 34 years old, Makhachev is one of the top names in the UFC and currently the organization's welterweight champion. The Russian has a professional record of 29 wins and one loss, with five wins by knockout and 13 by submission, numbers that highlight his dominance in grappling and his evolution in striking.
